WHERE WE WORK
For the last 22 years, we have been building the systems that children need to keep them safe wherever they are.
We work with key stakeholders (communities, schools, police and gram panchayats) in Aspirational districts, climate hazard zones and other hotspots where children are most vulnerable to harm.

WHAT WE DO
Child protection is not just about laws and protocols. It’s a human system focusing on how people work together to understand what children need, and how to support them the right way.
We develop and demonstrate strategies and practices
so that child safety can be integrated into the working of different sectors and systems, both government and civil society.
We build the knowledge and capability of people
who have a responsibility towards children — their families, their communities, their schools, the government bodies around them — to protect children.
We use ground-level data and insights
to increase awareness and share know-how that can help others take action to keep children safe.
At its core, we are helping people know how to do the following:
LISTEN
to and about vulnerable children, especially the most marginalised
IDENTIFY
the obvious as well as the not-so-obvious risks and signs of harm
SUPPORT
support children to heal and recover and prevent further harm
RESPOND
to prevent and stop harm from happening in a timely and trauma-informed way keeping the best interest of the child at the centre

Mobilising the Ecosystem
When large groups of people are accountable and competent to ensure children's safety and well-being, then children will be safe.
We work with government departments and community groups, helping them to be alert, active and responsive to child harm. Our work includes identifying, training and mobilising the relevant stakeholders in children's lives, and facilitating platforms for them to come together to co-create solutions that will keep children safe.

The Impact of our child-harm prevention work (2017-present)
1,582 child marriages were prevented
through the joint efforts of community groups and local government authorities
15,446 working children were removed from work
or had their hours reduced and were enrolled in school
18,740 out-of-school children started going to school
and/or vocational courses ensuring their present and future security
18,800 community women were trained to identify
and respond to harm faced and are active and protecting children in their neighbourhoods
12,200 government officials are more responsive and accountable for the safety
and well-being of children living in their jurisdictions through working with our interventions

It has a ripple effect that will accelerate us achieving our Sustainable Development Goals.
Protection is a child’s fundamental right according to both the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as our Constitution. So, keeping children safe is something we all have to do.
